{gastronomic delight or dismay} buffet at Spiral, Sofitel Philippine Plaza
December 18, 2008When I got the news that I passed the September 2008 Licensure Examination for Teachers (more about this later) and that oath taking ceremony would be December 16th, I immediately scouted for a place where I could celebrate this event. I knew I wanted a buffet lunch and that Cuneta Astrodome is my reference point since the oath would be held there. I was prepared to shell out more than the usual since I was in a celebratory mood.
Food blog hopping for about a week or two, I finally decided to try Spiral at Sofitel Philippine Plaza. Despite the mixed reviews here, I was convinced that I should try this. And of course, the hubby was as excited as I was!
The attendant led us to a private and comfortable wooden booth. It was exactly where I would have chosen had I been given a choice. The table set up was complete and the waiter immediately took our drinks soon after the the receptionist got hubby’s name and contact number. As always, it’s bottomless iced tea whereas hubby had his coke zero. And so the adventure begins.
I was at loss! I didn’t know where to start. The spread was loooonnngg! But not necessarily ALL good.
For my first full plate, I had sukiyaki, hot potato salad, spicy shrimp, some kind of rice and a slice of prime ribs. Hmmm…
By our table was mostly Asian cuisine which after a quick look, I decided I could skip most of them except for the peking duck, sweet and sour shrimp and a piece of some korean beef and ground pork.
Of course, hubby was on attack-mode! a collection of Jap food and mussels. Huh? I find it “interesting.”
